What you'll need

Wooden Pegs
Felt
Wool
Scrap material
Glue
Scissors
Googly eyes or marker for face

Let's Make It

Use pieces of material to cut out clothes for the peg and attach with glue
Wrap wool around bottom of peg to make shoes
Glue wool hair on top of peg
Glue on eyes / or draw face with marker


Great social activity as they get to play with the dolls afterwards.

Can extend on activity by making a house for the dolly pegs using cardboard boxes, fabric and other bits of recycled materials.

The boys are still playing with their dolly pegs half an hour later....they have been reduced to just plain pegs lol but we have been creative, my 4yo got to play with glue (always a highlight for him) and they have something new to play with. They would have last a lot longer if they had the patience to let them dry!

Wooden Dolly Pegs can be purchased from most craft stores and 2 dollar shops. All up we spent $2 on a pack of dolly pegs, $2 for a pack of different coloured felt squares, $2.50 for PVA Glue and $2 for a ball of wool and we have heaps of felt, glue and wool for our next craft activity.

Keep the Kids Busy this Easter School Holidays

Here's some tips to keep the kids from driving you crazy this school holidays!




Let them Decide - Plan activities in advance and ask the kids for their input so they can take ownership and you can prepare.

Keep the Active - Mix Indoor and Outdoor Activities. Outdoor Activities to keep them moving and drain their energy before bedtime.

Stay on Budget - Picnics in the park, visit art galleries or just a walk. Think of inexpensive day trips that are close to home and take your own snacks to avoid buying over priced food.

Get Creative - Plan a Themed Dinner. Take a trip to Paris in the comfort of your own home. Choose a  country, dress up, cook with the family, even try to speak their language (hey we can sneak in a bit of education too)

Have Fun - Lead by Example and enjoy the time you have with your family. Get involved and connect with your kids. A positive attitude can turn any activity into a lasting memory.

Easter will be upon us soon. Kids on holidays...again! Quick!!! It's time to get prepared to keep those kiddies busy, there's nothing worse than a holiday filled with "Mum, I'm Bored!"
These are just a few ideas we've come up with to help you keep your sanity and the kids busy.

Melted Crayon Easter Eggs

There are many ways that you can do melted crayon art for Easter and other occasions. Here's just one spin on this really fun art.

Firstly what you will need.

Crayons in different colours

a sharpener

Hard Boiled Eggs

hairdryer

and something to catch the mess :)


How to Make It



1. Pick out your colours
2. Once your eggs are boiled quickly take them out and place in an empty egg carton or prop them up on bottle tops
3. There's a few ways to create your masterpiece. The heat of the boiled egg will melt the wax so you'll need to work fast but you can simply draw on the egg letting the heat melt the wax and create different patterns. Try the pencil sharpener and sharpen the crayon over the egg to create different textures and then use the hair dryer to melt it further and create a dazzling effect.
Let it dry for about an hour and Voila! Your own Melted Wax Egg Masterpiece.


Just to be sure we don't recommend eating your masterpiece.

Shaving Cream Painting

Shaving Cream Painting Easter Eggs

Things you need to do Shaving Cream Easter Eggs

• A roasting tray, under the bed plastic storage container or even the bath tub will do
• a spatula or ruler but if you have a squigee laying around you can use that
• shaving cream
• a skewer or plastic fork what ever you have around the house
• cardboard, cut out into egg shapes
• paint in various colours

How to make Shaving Cream Easter Eggs

1.  Spray shaving foam into the tray or whatever you have decided to use.

2.  Get the kids to smooth the foam over just using their hands so it’s relatively flat on top.

3. Squeeze the paint onto the foam  (little dots and splotches is perfect).

4. Use the skewer or plastic fork to swirl the paint around to create a pattern.

5. Place the cardboard down on top of the paint and leave for a few seconds.

6. Remove and let it sit for a bit while you watch the kids play in the left over shaving cream be warned this is messy but the kids will have so much fun and so will you.

7. Gently wipe off the shaving cream with the ruler, spatula or squeegie, leaving the pattern on the cardboard.  Leave it to dry. Once your shaving cream painting is dry they are read to decorate around the house with. Punch a hole with a holepunch and loop a piece of ribbon thru to make them hangable or glue onto easter baskets that the kids have made or make easter cards out of them many uses you can also use the shaving cream as bath paint at bath time for something different.
