CONTENT - Part A

Adding Content to Your Facebook Page

Adding content to you Facebook Page is just as important as adding content a Website. Google loves information. Adding keyword rich text to your Facebook Page is a great way to improve your SEO.

Our Content Section is lengthy so we will be breaking it up into multiple posts along with Link Building which is being covered in our next Section. Content and Link building will start to coexist as we work towards a SEO Friendly Facebook Page.

For this blog post we will be focusing on our Notes Section. Have you ever gone into your notes section? You can actually see Notes from other pages listed to the right of your own notes. This can actually prove another useful marketing tool. Catchy, interesting headlines can actually entice people to your page.

Assuming that you now have your 10 Keywords, when you are writing articles for your notes section you select 1-3 of those keywords for each article.

The internet is an information resource and if you haven't already guessed it Google loves information and Free information. So it is imperative that we provide good quality free content to our fans.

So What Articles/Notes should we be including?

This is entirely up to you but I recommend keeping in your niche. If you sell candles for example you want to include articles and content relating to Candles. So you could  do the History of Candles, use's of Candles, types of candles, can candles be of benefit to mental and/or physical health, how to combine candles into your home. Think outside the box. Always check what people are searching for using Google AdWords and base your articles around those respective keywords. Your 10 Main Keywords are your Page Platform but you are not limited to these 10. Trying new keywords for different articles is also a good idea also. So if there are a high number of searches for the keyword "How Many Types of Candles are there?" Write an article about it and use that keyword.

How to Write a Good Article

1. Keep it Factual.
2. It needs to make sense. Article Spinning has become very popular but if your content doesn't make sense, it may rank well to start with but it will quickly lose rank if your bounce rate is 100% because it doesn't make any sense so people are not taking the time to read it.
2. Make it 100% Unique. I cannot emphasise this enough. Stealing content from the internet is simply wasting your own time. It won't get ranked and any rankings you get you will lose.
You can submit your articles to: www.copyscape.com
www.articlechecker.com
This will have them checked for originality.
3. Keyword Rich Text. Depending on the length of your article use 1-3 keywords. If you article is under 100 words use 1 Keyword. 100-200 use 2 Keywords and so on. There is a term called 'Keyword Stuffing' Using keywords too many times can have a negative affect.

If you are having troubles writing content there are article writing services available on the internet.
Prices vary but you can buy 100% Unique Articles relating to your niche.

Keywords

The Aussie Mums Unite 3 Month Challenge - Part 2 KEYWORDS

If you've missed Part 1 - Here's the Link =>PART 1<=

Now that you have written your 'bio' it's time to optimise it. To do that you will need some keywords. Depending on your niche this can be easy or quite difficult.

There are many kinds of keywords including broad and long tail keywords. The 3 major types of keyword queries are informational, navigational and transactional.
When finding keywords it is important to understand the mindset of the user.
Informational keywords are words used when people are looking for information on something in particular.
Navigational keywords are words people use when they are searching for a company.
Transactional keywords are the ones people use when they want to spend money.
Including a balance of these types of keywords is a good idea, but just remember if you are using informational keywords make sure you provide information. We'll cover this in adding content.

We have single word keywords, multiple word keywords or long-tail keywords (these are the ones we want to target).

What are keywords exactly?

Keywords are what people use on search engines to find what they are looking for on the internet.
We want to find keywords that match what people are looking for.
Example: Buy Dog Beds Online (this is an example of a transactional keyword)
Different types of dog beds (informational)
Businesses that make dog beds (navigational)

How to Find Keywords?

There are many tools available to generate keywords including free and paid. This you can research yourself.

The Keyword Tool I will be working with is Google's own Keyword Tool called Google Adwords
Using your bio try a few phrases/ideas in the adwords tool. Example: buy dog beds, buy a dog bed for a chihuoha, buy a pink dog bed, different types of dog beds. I advise you do a bit of research on how to select good keywords but simply you need words or phrases that are targeted, that are highly searched and have low competition.

Add you ideas one per line.
Under Advanced Options select your criteria eg. Country: Australia
Type in captcha code.
Click Search

A list will appear starting with the phrases you initially entered then a list of suggested ideas.

You will need to pick 10 Keywords that you would like to work with.

On a new page in your notebook add your list of 10 keywords. You will now need to incorporate your keywords into your bio.
I would suggest using 1-2 of your selected keywords into your bio. So out your 10 pick your 2 most important, a main and a secondary. These two phrases should be added to your bio 5 times for the  main keyword and 3 times for secondary keyword. Keep it natural, it needs to make sense and 100% Unique.
This is called creating a Keyword Rich Text.

Now that you have your keyword rich text about your business add it to the about section of your Facebook Fan Page.

Congratulations!! You've just created your first optimised content for you Facebook Fan Page.

You will soon be able to see what I have done at Rosey Kids.
Visit http://www.facebook.com/roseykids to see my About section. :)

It generally takes 3 months for Google to crawl a page and give it a rank, sometimes quicker. So this is no quick fix by any means.  Obviously if you rank well then it will be worth the wait.

HOMEWORK

Visit Facebook Pages that relate to your niche. See what they are doing and where they seem to be doing well and possibly what isn't working so well.
Write a list and include 5 positives and 5 negatives.

I'll see you all here for Content!

Puffy Paint

Looking for Ideas for the Kids to do during the School Holidays?

Why not try Puffy Paint!

Kids will love watching their creations come to life in 3D with this easy to make paint mixture. It works better on thick cardboard but you can also just use recycled cereal boxes.

You'll need:

  •  1 tbsp self-raising flour
  •  food colouring
  •  1 tbsp salt
  •  water to make a smooth paste
Let your little budding artist create and then pop into microwave for 10-30 secs unil the paint has "puffed" and is dry.

This would make great Xmas Cards of Gift Tags

The Aussie Mums Unite 3 Month Challenge

Do you own a Facebook Fan Page?

Are you running your business solely through Facebook?

I am seeing a lot of posts over the recent weeks from Facebook Pages about how they are not reaching their fans. I too am a victim of recent Facebook changes and have seen a dramatic reduction in the amount of people seeing my posts. So what do we do about this?
I can see there are a lot of businesses struggling and whilst I understand why these changes have been made to Facebook they could have possibly waited until after the Xmas Period! It is what it is so it's time to band together and get our business back on track.

Whilst my business Rosey Kids is not soley run on Facebook. I am relying on Facebook a lot at the moment whilst my website is undergoing some SEO Work.

So what can we do to improve our Facebook Fan Pages? Is SEO the answer? SEO being Search Engine Optimisation.
With Facebook becoming such a powerful force taking over the online world Google particularly is taking note and are ranking Facebook Fan Pages..... and it makes sense.

Have you thought about SEO for your Facebook Page? I am no expert but I am starting to pick up trends and seeing what works and what doesn't.

So let's break this down.

We start a Facebook Fan Page. We spend money and time on Cover Pages, Logo's and we are so happy with our work we share it with our friends. We are so proud of our little business and hard work and love the support our friends give us. Then there's that expectation of a chain reaction, their friends will see so they will like our page, and then their friends will see and they'll like it too and so on and so on. Suddenly we'll have so much support that we won't be able to keep up with orders etc.
Now with Facebook changes friends of friends just aren't always seeing your posts.

So now that Facebook Pages are struggling they are resorting to Giveaways and Huge Discounts. I see posts like look at the new stock I just received and then add a massive discount or competition and end up giving it away. (Trust me I am guilty of everything I am going to write about today. I am very much a person who has to learn things the hard way but I guess whats most important is that I learn).   Surely this is not how we want to grow our business and are we harming ourselves more than helping and by constantly giving our products away what are we saying about the quality of our business?

Competitions are great, people like to win and they love Free Stuff! Who Doesn't?  But what is the real reason for running a competition? Obviously we hope that the winner of our prize will tell their friends about your amazing product and/or service which will entice new customers and that the winner of your prize will return as a paying customer. Too often I am seeing businesses simply giving their products away. Hit like and I'll draw a winner. For sure this builds likes, interaction and post views but who are you attracting? It's too easy to hit 'LIKE' on a post on your newsfeed, don't even have to like your page and I can get something for free! Too easy.  It's all about building your brand. Make your prize worthwhile, that your contestants will happily participate in the terms and conditions of your competition. Perhaps instead of running a simple give away ask for product testers or enlist the services of another business to run your competition and promote your business or even review your business.

Over the coming weeks I will be posting a lot about building your business. I know it's everywhere on the internet but I think so many people are forgetting the basics.

It's time to go back to the beginning and have a look at our business plans and get back to basics.
So I will be introducing the 'Aussie Mums Unite 3 Month Business Challenge'

Over the next 3 Months we will be working together to build our businesses by improving SEO on our Facebook Pages and Websites.

And there's Homework!

1. Join our Mailing List and be sure to tick the Mummpreneurs Section. =>Click Here<=
2. Get out your business plans or work books. I want you to see how you are travelling along. Are you achieving your goals or do you need to make changes and set some new goals. Make 2013 a fresh start.
3. Get yourself a notebook and call it the Aussie Mums Unite 3 Month Challenge. On your first page I want you to write a paragraph about your business. What it does, what set's it a part from all the other businesses ie how are you unique? Being the cheapest just isn't enough anymore so put some thought into this. Include your services and how you operate. This will be the beginnings of our SEO. So try and make it about 200-250 words. I will be doing this also for Rosey Kids.

The whole idea of this challenge is to explore other possibilities for your business and allow your business to be found a little easier.

So that's it for today.  I hope you'll join me on this challenge and explore some new possibilities for your business. Over the coming weeks you will receive a Survey. This survey is to establish what you are looking for from your Facebook Page and How you would like to see it grow?
And remember Aussie Business is truly amazing and we want Aussie Business' to not just survive but THRIVE!
Over the coming months you will also see some tools made available to you, but I'll leave you in suspense on that one. ;)

Recipe Ideas for Kids Christmas Parties

It's Christmas Time! and you know what that means....Kids Christmas Parties.

1. Strawberry Christmas Santas

There are a so many recipes for this so let's keep it really simple.

Ingredients
1 Punnet of Strawberries or More Depending on How Many you are Catering for.
2. A tub of Cream Cheese
3. A few Tablespoons of Icing Sugar
4. Vanilla Extract
5. Choc Drops, Sultanas, etc for Eyes

Method
1. Wash Strawberries and Chop their Tops Off.
2. Spoon out a small amount of the body to hold filling. Many of the recipes I'm reading say to spoon the lot out but why waste a yummy healthy strawberry. I think just a spoonful to allow enough filling to hold him all together.
3. Beat Cream Cheese, 2-3 tablespoons of Icing Sugar and a Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract Together to form a soft fluffy mix.
4. Using a Icing bag or even a Freezer Bag and cut a corner off to Fill your Strawberry.
5. Put his hat on and add two eyes using chocolate drops, sultanas etc.

And Voila.. a healthy, appealing totally yummy Christmas Party treat.

Keeping Chooks

So why keep Chickens? Food - Eggs and whilst we are not going to address this at this stage - meat. Chickens are also easy and very inexpensive to keep and they make great pets.
You'll have a continuous supply of fresh, great tasting eggs that are so much healthier than those bought from a store.

The nutritional content of you average large store bought egg contains 71 calories, of that the egg white contains on average 17 calories, 5 grams of fat contained in the yolk (the white contains 0 grams of fat), 211 milligrams of Cholesterol contained only in the yolk, 6 grams total of protein 4 of which are contained in the white and 70 milligrams of sodium 55 which found in the white. No carbohydrates.
A fresh egg from your backyard contains 1/3 less cholesterol, 2/3 more vitamin A, 1/4 less saturated fat, 2 times more omega 3 fatty acids, 3 times the amount of vitamin E and 7 times more beta carotene than that of a store bought egg.

There are plenty of bonuses to keeping Chickens including a natural elimination of pests and weeds from your yard gobbling up snails, slugs, crickets and grasshoppers. Its quite funny seeing a chook running around chasing a fly. They love nothing more than picking and digging at weeds and what to do with the chicken poo? Well chicken poo is an economical, safe and free fertiliser that is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium which can be used on your gardens and lawn.

Having owned chickens on and off my whole life I have experienced an animal that makes a great pet that are affectionate, entertaining, easy to care for and give us yummy nutritious eggs. That's a pretty good deal.

What to Feed Your Chickens

If you haven't experienced owning chickens before you'll be pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive and varied a chickens dinner is.
Now you have something that will eat all of your scraps, just ensure that they are still fit for human consumption so no rot, mould etc. There really isn't a lot of need for commercial chicken feeds however you can purchase commercial feeds from produce stores including chick raising and layer feeds as a treat or when it's cold. Just try to stick to the natural feeds that consist of cracked corn and grains. Chickens will eat (like humans they will have their favourites and dislikes) but foods including apples, bananas (no peel), berries, asparagus, beans (cooked only), beets, bread, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts, carrots, cereals (not the sugary stuff), cheese, cooked chicken (just doesn't sound right, does it?), corn, cucumber, eggs (avoid raw or they could start eating their own eggs), egg plant, fish/seafood (cooked only), flowers (marigolds will give a brightly coloured yolk, ensure plants have not be sprayed with any chemicals), grains, grapes, lettuce, meal worms, meat scraps, oatmeal, pasta, peas, capsicum, potatoes, sultanas, raisins, rice (cooked only), a chicken scratch (cracked corn and grains as a treat), yellow squash, zucchini, sunflower seeds (a nice treat that assists with egg laying and healthy plumage), tomatoes, watermelon, yoghurt (any) and peanuts.

How Many Chickens Should You Keep?

To work out how many chickens you should have depends on how many eggs you will require and of course always check with your local council before purchasing any number of chickens.
Depending on the breed a hen (a chicken that is 12 months old or has started laying - usually around 20 weeks of age) can lay every day, every other day or once or twice a week up until she reaches 2 years of age when they start to slow egg production, however some hens may lay for several years.
Maybe you have a large network of friends, family and work colleagues and you could even sell some eggs for a little extra pocket money. I found that by selling some eggs I was able to cover the costs of keeping the chickens.

Healthy Chickens

Keeping your chickens healthy is very basic. Keep their coop clean, regularly wash feeders and waterers, always ensure their is clean fresh water, store feed safely and securely so rats, mice, bugs and water can't get in and Worm your chickens.

Housing Your Chickens

Depending on how much space you have there are few ways to house your new pets. You can purchase small coops that you can move around, large fixed structures, you could even build one yourself. A few things to consider are how many chickens will need to be housed? How much space do you have? And ensure the health, safety and happiness of your ladies includes good ventilation, protection from weather and predators, it's nice and cosy and has some laying boxes. I have found my chickens have always loved to perch up high.

What you'll Need:
2 eggs
1/2 cup cream or milk

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 thick slices bread
15g butter
icing sugar to dust
mixed berries, maple syrup, to serve

How we started

Our Names are Rebecca and Candice. We have been the Best of Friends for 15 Years. We are both Married with Babies. Rebecca with 3 Little Boys and Candice with 2 Little Boys. Since having our children we have both decided to be Stay at Home Mamas and together we have created our Blog to Unite ALL Aussie Mums in a Community where we can Meet, Connect, Unite and Prosper. And of course have a heap of Fun...

I married my high school sweet heart and together we have 2 handsome little boys 4 and 15 months. I have experience in business and legal administration, bookkeeping and Optical dispensing. At the moment I am a stay at home and like all mums I got a little lost in who I am apart from being a mum and wife (don't get me wrong I love it) but at the same time wanted to have another drive and passion but something I could do from home. Upon my bestie starting her own online business many of our conversations resulting in we are not alone and feel many Aussie mums feel the same way. So Aussie Mums Unite was born as a joint venture between Bec and I. I am the honest and give it to you straight kind of person who always puts my family first. I love all the new crazes and gadgets and look forward to sharing them with you. I am hoping our blog will give Aussie Mums a place to converse, share and become an online community.

Married for 4 years and 3 beautiful boys 3 1/2, 2 and 7 months.
I have a mixed bag of education and experience. Fully Qualified in Child Care and the Coordinator of a busy Out of School Care Service for a few years, Certificates in Retail, Agriculture, various Management Roles but I guess I could never find what would fulfill me completely....until now. Since becoming a parent I knew that I wanted to be at home and be there to raise my children but even this couldn't fulfill me completely, its because I love to work! So basically I want the best of both worlds, so now I am the proud owner of a steadily growing online business (plug time lol) at www.RoseyKids.com.au  Quality Affordable Children's Clothing, Shoes, Manchester and Accessories. Through this experience I have found a new passion and that is helping others to achieve their goals.
This is where PROSPER come's in to our Slogan. Through my experiences of massive FAILS lol Trial and Errors and Success's I can't wait to start blogging about (as I call them) my Mummypreneur Blogs.

So what can I bring to Aussie Mums Unite?
Bringing up 3 little boys all 3 and under, well I have a lot to share, a lot of laughs, a lot of mistakes = REALITY!  I'm a go with the flow kinda mum, a bit old fashioned and I love a good deal and as mentioned before my Mummypreneur Blogs.
